Why go paperless? Why not?!

So many benefits to a paperless classroom!

Lots of "little things" make the paperless classroom a success for students, teachers, parents, administrators, districts, counselors, support staff...

Some of the many benefits...

Accessibility

Resources, assignments, discussions, etc are available anytime, anywhere from any device.

Students who are ill, suspended or travelling don't need to miss a thing; just login and join in.

Economical & Enviro-Friendly

Newly obsolete supplies:
paper, scissors, binders, folders, highlighters, markers, staples, paperclips, poster board, crayons, backpacks, shelving, dictionaries, encyclopedias, flash drives...the list goes on and on!

Copies on paper seem limiting and wasteful after working paperlessly.

Paperless classrooms are saving trees, literally multiple trees, in just one paperless classroom in just one school year.

Dependable

No one needs to go to his/her locker!

No paper is lost or left at home or eaten by the dog...

Student resources and assignments are accessed through clouds and websites.

Customizable

Customize lexile levels for reading, assignment details/length etc, enrichment opportunities for accelerated students, individualization for special ed / 504 students - infinite options!

Removal of Unnecessary Obstacles

Students are no longer penalized for being disorganized or having poor penmanship.

Grades give a more accurate picture when the student's ability to transport papers is eliminated.

No one is handicapped by illegibility.

Students and teachers can focus on the true subject matter and skill development when unnecessary roadblocks to success are removed.

Who will miss those cumbersome, too-heavy-for-children backpacks?

Clean / Efficient / Organized

No one exchanges tattered germ-ridden papers.

Assignment revisions, enhancements and adjustments are only a click away.

Zero copies to be churned out, collated, stapled, piled, delivered, distributed, lost, replaced....

Alphabetized assignments with documented details replace stacks of papers awaiting grading.

Data Driven & Common Core Aligned

Want data? Need data?

An abundance of data is available with online learning.

Web based programs allow teachers to easily review and download data on student progress.

Whether an an exit ticket, a benchmark, a survey, etc, the data is there.

All color coded and charted too!

Ongoing tracking of students on individual skills, assessments or standards.

Track the progress of individual students, single classes or entire population.

Some sites recommend specific remediations too, readily prescribale for individual students.

Common Core resources and standards tracking are readily available too.

Transparent & Documented

Everyone is in the loop!

Parents need not wonder about assignments and grades. All the information is online.

Parents can see the assignments on a teacher's website and then click the link to connect to the learning platform needed for each specific assignment,

Everything needed to complete the assignment is there: documents, videos, teacher comments, annotating tools, anything and everything.

Suited to Digital Natives

Students live in a digital world.

A subject with no digital components can seem irrelevant to a modern student.

65% of the jobs that will employ today's elementary students don't even exist yet!

True career preparation readies students to navigate ever changing and developing technology.

Limitless

The possibilities of online learning are limitless for teachers and students.

The world is at our fingertips!

It only takes seconds to locate statistics, find an image or a diagram, anything to seize learning opportunities as they arise.

Online, students and classes and teachers can dig deeper and investigate immediately and limitlessly.
